Learn more about the German-built Tucker Boat
The Tucker Boat 17 runs 7 knots with an 11 hp engine. A 15 hp as well as one of the new 18 hp, 3 cylinder Volvo Diesels can also be installed. The engine is installed slightly aft of amidship and is covered by an insulated mahagony box with inlaid Teak and Holy on Top. The engine box is hinged in front and opens all the way. Access to engine, transmission and prop shaft are a mechanics dream. The engine instruments are installed at the rear of the engine box under a protective cover. The engine is fed by a 12 gallon tank. At six knots the engine consumes approx. half a gallon of Diesel fuel.
To drive the boat is pure pleasure, it reacts immediately to the
rudder activated by a solid tiller.
The SS rudder is supported by a stainless steel keelshoe which also protects
the propeller.
The entire inside as well as the deck is superbly finished in mahagony and teak,
Simply excellent. It cannot be done any better. This is boatbuilding as an art
form.
The Tucker Boat is a jewel on the water, and with a displacement of less than 2000 lbs.
it can also easily be trailered.
