We were the original importer of Sunbeam Sailing Yachts into the US.
We handled every US-bound Sunbeam Yacht until 1992.

Schoechl Sportbootswerft, the builder of the SUNBEAM sailing yachts has been a family operated company originating back to 1874. Sunbeam yachts we imported meet German Lloyd's specifications, the highest boat building standards in the world!
Water, fuel, and holding tanks are stainless steel or special aluminum, not plastic, and were made by the builder's own craftsmen, just like the masts and booms. Johannes Schoechl Senior, was quoted as saying "We were simply not satisfied with the quality details of the industry's manufactured masts and particularly their fittings, rollers, etc., so we decided to build our own." The aluminium tanks haven been known to deteriorate and require replacement. The stainless steel tanks seem to be of good quality in aging yachts.
All SUNBEAM yachts are built with isophtalic acid resin and gel coat. This special resin is considerably more expensive than the ordinary boat building resins (and therefore rarely used); however, it absorbs very little moisture. This, combined with a special method of exclusively hand-laying selected glass roving and mats, provides a far stronger and extremely durable hull and deck. Common problems with other yachts, such as blister-ing, delaminating and cracking are still unheard of in SUNBEAM yachts that we imported.
We have no information regarding newer Sunbeam models.
